Skateboarding Hall of Fame

Last Saturday was one hell of a day, shooting for a very conservative Yacht Club and then going the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.
Through my wife's contacts and history, I approached the PR firm for the event and asked to set up a photo booth.  There were going to be many people shooting the actual event and I thought that a set without all the visual distractions would be a nice change. It would allow people to goof and to act up without knocking anyone over.

Here are the Honorees.

Patti McGee
1st woman inducted, you've got to see the commercial of her skating through the house for a phone company back in 1965, also the year I arrived in the US.

Bay Johnson, accepting for his brother Torger

Bob Burnquist

Eric Koston
I had a great shoot with him for Golf Magazine.

Stacy Peralta

Steve Caballero

also honored were

Larry Stevenson ( Makaha), son Curt accepting, here with Patti McGee.

Craig Stecyk

Legends all!!!

A great many thanks go out to: IASC, Skatelab, Shout PR, and Go Skate Foundation for letting me come and take photo's of everyone and all you've done for Skateboarding.

thanks again

Ian Logan

Sexy Back

I just got the new Hers Magazine and was stoked to see one of my favorite shots from this session with Kristen Nunn.

I don't know why but I love these back shots, I've done a few and am always amazed at the way the light plays on the muscles.

Pure sensuality.

Cool Dad

I want to be in this family.

A few weeks ago I photographed this gentleman for a trade publication.
We wanted to spotlight him and also show his family.
How cool- mini ramp in the back yard and only 1/2 a block from the cove to go surfing.
I wonder if I'm too old to be adopted.

Model of Sobriety- Jennifer Giminez

There's a new magazine on the block.
RENEW
I was introduced to them by Mike Berg, writer and editor extraordinaire. He wrote the article and was on  location with me to shoot Jennifer Giminez who was house mother on Dr. Drews show "Sober House" .
As you can see here, she has incredible energy and is a lot of fun to be around.
The magazine is aimed towards recovering addicts and is about having fun and hope.

Monique Minton in Sept/Oct 2010 Hers Magazine

An issue I always have when shooting for a client is that I can't  share the images immediately, but have to wait until they are published.
But on the other side it's really cool to unexpectedly run across an image you had forgotten about.

Here's a shot from a M&F Hers editorial lifestyle shoot that was shot in March of 2010.
Monique, as always was great to work with, even when I had her do sprints over and over.

Summer at the beach

Is there anything more iconic for summer than a girl in a bikini on the beach.
I photographed Kelly Veit for her fitness training web site when she was 2 weeks out from competing in her first IFBB Contest.
She came in 3rd! Congratulations Kelly.

Rocco Deluca

A couple of shots of an incredible artist
He reminds me of why we cherish artists- committed, concerned and entertaining.

Cindy Whitehead wrote the article and I tagged along to get some great shots.

Kerri Walsh

In keeping with the general beach thing, as well as the volleyball thing, I was privileged to be able to photograph 2x Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh a couple of days prior (just found out actually on the morning of!!) to the birth of her 2nd son, Sundance.

Run, Paddle and Puke- An Annual Rite

Happy Post 4th of July

Here in Hermosa Beach we have a contest that speaks to every weekend athlete!
A contest which tests all aspects of the athletic endevor, both the exercise and the celebration.
Enter the Hermosa Beach Ironman, an event in which anyone with $20.00 and not too bad a hangover can run, paddle and then consume a 6 pack of the beer of your choice to become the well and truly rounded athlete.

So without further ado here is the contest.

What would the 4th be without someone to make sure you didn't have too much fun.

can you remember which one is yours?

Tugging on Superman's cape.

Middle of the pack but making up ground

No need to rush, just in it for the beer.
