What Happened to B/W

I was looking through my photo archives the other day and realized that since converting to digital I had completely abandoned shooting and printing in B/W.
What a mistake.
So here are some new photographs.

Occupy LA, last days?

Thanksgiving weekend, City Hall has just given Occupy LA an ultimatum to decamp.
Here are a few impressions on the quiet Friday (11/25/11), of the camp at Los Angeles City Hall Park.

Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006- Renew Magazine Cover Story

Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006, the only thing I wish was that they had published the shots of them goofing around on the trail. I think it shows how far she has come, thanks Tara and Brandon.

The Dog Party!

People with dogs are strange, especially urban people with dogs. I should know as I'm one of them.
Each year friends of mine have birthday party for the dogs, they rent out the local Kiwanis Club, let the dogs in and we celebrate.
God knows why the Kiwanis lets us have the dogs running around inside but they do.

This year as part of the celebration, I had a photo booth, below are some of the participants.

Skateboarding Hall of Fame

Last Saturday was one hell of a day, shooting for a very conservative Yacht Club and then going the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.
Through my wife's contacts and history, I approached the PR firm for the event and asked to set up a photo booth.  There were going to be many people shooting the actual event and I thought that a set without all the visual distractions would be a nice change. It would allow people to goof and to act up without knocking anyone over.

Here are the Honorees.

Patti McGee
1st woman inducted, you've got to see the commercial of her skating through the house for a phone company back in 1965, also the year I arrived in the US.

Bay Johnson, accepting for his brother Torger

Bob Burnquist

Eric Koston
I had a great shoot with him for Golf Magazine.

Stacy Peralta

Steve Caballero

also honored were

Larry Stevenson ( Makaha), son Curt accepting, here with Patti McGee.

Craig Stecyk

Legends all!!!

A great many thanks go out to: IASC, Skatelab, Shout PR, and Go Skate Foundation for letting me come and take photo's of everyone and all you've done for Skateboarding.

thanks again

Monique Minton in Sept/Oct 2010 Hers Magazine

An issue I always have when shooting for a client is that I can't  share the images immediately, but have to wait until they are published.
But on the other side it's really cool to unexpectedly run across an image you had forgotten about.

Here's a shot from a M&F Hers editorial lifestyle shoot that was shot in March of 2010.
Monique, as always was great to work with, even when I had her do sprints over and over.

Rocco Deluca

A couple of shots of an incredible artist
He reminds me of why we cherish artists- committed, concerned and entertaining.

Cindy Whitehead wrote the article and I tagged along to get some great shots.

In keeping with the general beach thing, as well as the volleyball thing, I was privileged to be able to photograph 2x Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh a couple of days prior (just found out actually on the morning of!!) to the birth of her 2nd son, Sundance.
